Point South, is also home to the Lowcountry Visitors Center and Museum, a refurbished 1800’s Plantation home, the "Frampton House." Magnificent old oaks draped in Spanish moss frame the house. In the backyard there are Civil War earthworks erected by General Robert E. Lee. The Center offers information on the four counties of the Lowcountry, Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton and Jasper and features displays from ten area museums. The house also features a gift shop and a recreated 19th Century parlor, complete with antique furnishings. The Lowcountry Visitors Center is open from 8am to 5pm seven days a week. Admission is free and you are sure to enjoy a visit to the historic south.
